In the world of basketball, a Big is a slang term referring to a player on a basketball team who plays the center or forward position. The center is most often the tallest player on the team, and he is tasked with rebounding and defending the biggest player on the opposing team.

Unlike other positions on the floor, the bigs cannot score unless they rebound a missed shot attempt, or the ball is passed to them. The Bigs rely hugely on their teammates to pass the ball in order for them to eat/score. And the bigs are hungry.
